Sadly, Las Vegas does not have an independent seller of new books. Basically, it’s either Borders or Barnes & Noble in Southern Nevada. But Las Vegas does have a baker’s dozen of good used bookstores scattered across the valley. The Las Vegas Review of Books now has a page (see navigation bar at top of home page) dedicated to listing the community’s used bookstores.
All 13 stores are worth checking out, but if you need a top five to hit first, here is one local book-buying veteran’s view:
1. Plaza Books
2. Amber Unicorn
3. Academy Fine Books
4. Dead Poet Books
5. Greyhound’s Books
Again, you can find something great to read at any of the stores. But the five listed above have the most books and the most diverse stock.
